Since 1917

The Converse All Star, first called the Non-Skid in 1917, was designed for basketball with a durable rubber sole and stitched cotton canvas upper. The Non-Skid would become the All Star in the early ‘20s, once basketball player Chuck Taylor joined Converse’s sales team. The now iconic circular All Star patch was added to the ankle along with extra ankle support. Soon Chuck Taylor’s name was added to the patch as well, making the classic Converse shoe we think of today, the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star. Today, the All Star is a casual shoe that comes in a low-top or high-top silhouette. Recently, the All Star silhouette has been designed to mirror the vintage All Star for a retro court look.
